Provider: Groworganic is a supplier of organic deep poultry litter fertilisers with 'organic' being the optimum word, (please click on this link for up to date information). 

History of Groworganic: Life began for Groworganic in 1974. Situated in the heart of Somerset, not far from Glastonbury Tor, the factory now produces 25 tons of composted, heat-treated, concentrated natural fertiliser every day.

The composting technique is to mountain the compost in a covered 1000 ton area and with regular turning, extract the ammonia. The composting of the deep poultry litter / wood shavings lasts for six weeks with regular wet back treatment to prevent the material from drying out.

The next process is to mill the product before the oven heating. Finally the now composted product enters the oven and is heat treated at over 200°C. The product is now clean and stable and ready for bagging as all composting is now complete.

My findings: for my trial purposes I was very generously provided with 6 x 33lb (40 litres) bags of the Groworganic 100% Organic Fertiliser (Fibrous) through Roger Cuminsky, proprietor (roger@groworganic.org) and my immediate thoughts were how the bags are of a comfortable weight and not overly heavy, also how clean the bags were which is not always the case when buying bagged garden products from garden centres etc.  Therefore first impressions are impressive and so a big thumbs up.  I must say at this point how the product is not unknown to me in that I recall purchasing and using Groworganic around 10 years ago with very pleasing results.

Asides from using the product as a soil conditioner (2 trowels per square yard), I added a trowel full of it to each planting hole before planting each dahlia, as I feel this gives a sound start to the growing process of the plants.

Verdict: Highly recommended.

For: Excellent and affordable product, prompt and friendly service.
